WILBURTON —Mount Carmel police have apprehended a Wilburton man and his girlfriend in connection with a vehicle theft overnight. According to The News Item, 22-year-old David A. Pavloski II and 22-year-old Courtney Klemick are in custody after police kicked down the door to Pavloski’s home early this morning. Kerry Klemick, the woman’s father, said he received a phone call around2:30a.m.from a friend who told him Pavloski and Klemick were drunk and had taken that friend’s maroon Buick Rendezvous. POINT TWP – A multi-vehicle crash with injuries is reported on Route 11 in Point Township. The crash happened just after 5:00p.m. in the southbound lane of Route 11 in front of Surplus Outlet. ALLENWOOD – Wildlife expert Jack Hanna will be visiting Clyde Peeling’s Reptiland in Allenwood and will do two live shows with a meet and greet session. The shows will be Monday January 7th at Reptiland at 5 and 7:30 p.m. Laura Brennan, marketing director at Reptiland says they are excited for the opportunity to have Hanna at their zoo. Brennan said, “Especially to be able to bring something like this during the winter months. MILTON — A Milton man has been charged with possesion of cocaine in Northumberland County. The Daily Item reports 23-year-old Joel Manuel Colon-Echevarria and a friend were found with more than 11 grams of cocaine and $100 in cash in January. Colon-Echevarria was arraigned on Tuesday and sent to the Northumberland County Prison. The cocaine was found after a vehicle stop along Route 147 after police say the car was swerving and no turn signal was used. Colon-Echevarria is charged with possession with intent to deliver cocaine. (Ali Stevens)
MOUNT CARMEL – A Mount Carmel woman is behind bars, charged with stealing jewelry from a home. 38-year-old Sherry Wright is accused of stealing more than $4,500 worth of jewelry from a home on August 23rd on East Second Street in Mount Carmel. Police say Wright brought the jewelry to a local coin shop and tried to sell it. Wright was arraigned before District Judge Hugh Jones and bail was set at $20,000. (Ali Stevens)
ORANGEVILLE – A Milton man was seriously hurt in a crash on Route 487 in the Orangeville area of Columbia County. 65-year-old Harold Reiner reportedly drifted into oncoming traffic Monday night and struck another vehicle head-on, driven by Waldemar Lysk of Benton. Reiner and Lysk were taken to Geisinger Medical Center for treatment. Reiner is listed in serious condition. Lysk was treated and released. (Ali Stevens)

SHAMOKIN – A local ATV racing legend has been recognized by the city of Shamokin. A ceremony was held Monday night to give Traci Cecco-Pickens the “Key to Shamokin.” Shamokin Mayor George Rozinski Jr. presented the award and declared that December 10 is now Traci Cecco-Pickens Day. Cecco-Pickens said, “I was so excited when I found out they were going to present the key to Shamokin to me. It’s such a great honor. It’s not something they do all the time. I’m definitely ecstatic to receive such a great award.” She has been racing professionally for 14 years. She retired this year as the 9-time Grand National Cross Country ATV women’s racing champion….
BEAVER SPRINGS – Two people were hurt in a crash on Route 522 inWestBeaverTownship,SnyderCounty. State police say 51-year-old Salvatore Morton ofWest Chesterwas driving his tractor-trailer west on 522 on Monday aroundnoonwhen he traveled into oncoming traffic. His rig struck a pickup driven by 46-year-old Dale Schmucker of Lewistown. Both vehicles traveled into a field following impact. Both drivers sustained minor injuries in the accident. BLOOMSBURG — After previously entering a guilty plea to charges that he sent inappropriate material by text message to a female student, a former high school bowling coach was given three to 12 months in jail. The sentence was handed down this week in Columbia County court to 48-year-old Michael Nearhoof, according to the Press-Enterprise. Nearhoof had coached the girl as a volunteer with the Columbia Montour Vo Tech bowling team. He will remain on supervision for nine months when he is released from Columbia County Prison.
