Large drug bust in Northumberland County

ELYSBURG – Approximately 90 people have been busted in Northumberland County today.  Northumberland County District Attorney Tony Rosini announced that the Northumberland-Montour Drug Task Force filed criminal charges against indivuals.  The charges are based on a culmination of investigations into drug activity in the last 12 months.  Drugs involved include heroin, morphine, cocaine, amphetamine, Percocet, methadone, Marijuana, and 12 others. Command centers were established in the Ralpho Township gymnasium and the Sunbury Municipal Building to process the defendants. The roundup began around 7:00a.m. Friday morning.  (Codi Jade) Follow

WASHINGTON (AP) – A law enforcement official says the suspect in the Connecticut school shootings is 24-year-old Ryan Lanza and that his younger brother is being held for questioning as a possible second shooter. The law enforcement official says the boys’ mother, Nancy Lanza, works at the school as a teacher. The official also said Ryan Lanza’s girlfriend and another friend are missing in New Jersey. Profs pass negotiation test: Contract reached


HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) – Pennsylvania’s 14 state-owned universities and the union representing their athletic coaches have reached tentative contract agreement. The State System of Higher Education said Friday the pact covers about 400 coaches represented by the Association of Pennsylvania State College and University Faculties. The system didn’t release details but says the coaches are likely to vote on the pact early next year. That leaves a separate bargaining unit representing 6,000 faculty members as the only unit without a contract agreement. The faculty members have authorized union leaders to call a strike but talks are continuing. At least 27 dead in school shooting in Connecticut

NEWTOWN, Conn. (AP) – CBS News has confirmed at least 27 deaths, including 18 children in a Connecticut school shooting.  An official says a gunman at the center of the school shooting has been killed.  He says the man apparently had two guns.  CBS News Correspondent John Miller says the shooter may have been the father of a student. A law enforcement official said the attacker is a 20-year-old man with ties to the school.  New Jersey state police are searching a location there in connection with the shooting. Tune to WKOK for updates. 1st annual Coalition for Kids conference in Snyder County


  SELINSGROVE – About 150 people turned out for the 1st annual Coalition for Kids conference in Snyder County. The conference is an effort to promote youth development and delinquency prevention through a county-wide collaboration. They are using a program called Communities That Care, which is an “operating system” that takes communities through a structured process to promote positive youth development.   The keynote speaker at today’s conference was Kendra Aucker, the Chief Operating Officer at Evangelical Community Hospital. No one seriously hurt after a tractor-trailer wreck on Route 45


  HARTLETON — No serious injuries were reported after a tractor-trailer rollover accident early this morning in Hartley Township, Union County. Police tell us the accident took place before six a.m. on Route 45 near Hairy John’s State Park.
