Sunbury man charged in check forgery

SUNBURY — A Sunbury man is in jail after he allegedly stole checks from his employer and forged the business owner’s name to cash several of them for himself. State Police in Milton say 21-year old Cody Lee Chestnut wrote checks out to himself and forged his aunt’s signature, who owns the Turbotville business where he worked. Reports say Chestnut was successful in cashing several of the checks, but the bank questioned their validity and contacted the business owner. The thefts occured between November 8 and December 6 – Chestnut was arraigned and recommited to Lycoming County Prison on $50,000 bail. Burglary at Tree Farm; Police look for suspects

LIBERTY TWP — Police are looking for four individuals in connection with a burglary at a Tree Farm in Danville. State Police in Milton say that sometime between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. on Friday morning, four individuals entered a Tree Farm along Mexico Road and stole power drills, batteries, digital cameras, a 2-foot stuffed fawn and two collection jars for an area charity. Police say they also attempted to break into a safe at the business, but were unsuccessful. Reports say the individuals removed some of the surveillance equipment on the property but police were still able to obtain videos that will be used in the investigation.
