Police investigate computer trespass

MILTON — Milton State Police are investigating an incident of criminal mischief and computer trespass.  According to reports, information was damaged and computer files were deleted from a computer at the Central Penn Women’s Health Center in Union County on June 20, 2012. Environmental groups to do more work at Camp Victory

UNDATED – Even more is being done with the nature center at Millville’s Camp Victory.  The center was completed last July says Lycoming College professor Dr. Peter Petokas. “Two years ago students from Lycoming College went out to Camp Victory with my assistance and we did an inventory of plants and animals.  That report was used to bolster a grant application to secure funding for the nature center.  Since the completion of the center, we have been work very hard to developing education programs, collecting educational materials and adding new resources to provide education to the kids. Cause undetermined for a Milton fire this week

MILTON – Due to extensive damage, the cause of a fire at a home at 668 Mahoning Street in Milton could not be determined. Firefighters were called to the home of Michael and Traci Messinger around 2 p.m. on Tuesday and found heavy smoke and fire. The home’s walls and roof eventually collapsed.   After an investigation this week, Milton Fire Chief Sam Shaffer says the cause of the fire will be listed as undetermined. One firefighter was treated at Evangelical Community Hospital for a minor injury and a dog was killed in the fire. (Ali Stevens)   Follow

Evan limits visitation due to flu

LEWISBURG — Local hospitals are taking action against the flu.  Evangelical Community Hospital is following Geisinger in limiting inpatient visits. To place patient safety first, Evan has stated today that it will be temporarily limiting visitation as a precaution against the spread of influenza.  Children aged 12 and under are now restricted from visiting inpatient floors. Medical Director of Infection Control, Dr. John L. Kryston, said, “While we are not currently experiencing unprecedented levels of influenza cases at Evangelical, we feel that this temporary restriction is the right thing to do to protect our patients and staff.” Dr. Kryston said hospital employees have done everything possible to prevent an outbreak, including 97% receiving flu shots and the…

Robbery at Turkey Hill in Milton

MILTON — State Police in Milton are investigating a robbery that took place Thursday night. Police say at 11:30p.m. an unknown male entered the Turkey Hill Minit Market on Mahoning St, Turbot Township.   The man had a firearm and demanded money. Fire burns itself out in Middleburg

  MIDDLEBURG — A Middleburg family is homeless after their rental house was damaged by a fire that–went out by itself. Middleburg Fire chief Butch Hackenberg said the fire started in the basement when no one was home–then burned itself out. No damage estimate is available.   He said the basement had extensive fire damage and there was heavy smoke damage throughout the rest of the structure. He said the fire smothered itself in the sealed basement. The cause is under investigation and is considered accidental. Cause of a shed fire is undetermined

  SELINSGROVE – The cause of a shed fire on the Isle of Que in Selinsgrove has been ruled undetermined. The fire was behind a home in the 200 block of Pine Street Thursday evening around 7:30 p.m. When Selinsgrove’s Dauntless Hook and Ladder arrived on the scene, the shed was fully involved in flames. The owner of the shed has not been determined. The shed was leveled and crews were on the scene for about an hour and a half. No injuries were reported. (Ali Stevens)   Follow

5-year-old suspended for Mount Carmel threats

  MOUNT CARMEL – A 5-year-old kindergarten student at Mount Carmel elementary has been suspended for allegedly threatening classmates that she was going to shoot them with a bubble gun.  The Daily Item reports the girl was interrogated without her mother’s knowledge for three hours and then suspended.   The alleged incident occurred January 10, while the girl was waiting to get on a school bus. The bubble gun is made by Hello Kitty and shoots bubbles.  The family’s lawyer says the girl was questioned by adults without her mother present and was then charged with making terroristic threats.   The lawyer said the girl said she would shoot classmates with the bubble gun and…
