SUNBURY — Shikellamy School District is expecting enrollment increases in the next five years and it’s led to discussions about reopening two schools in the District. The Daily Item reports that Superintendent, Pat Kelley, says the High School is overcrowded and with the projected increase in students, they need to start considering other options. Two schools, C.W. Rice and Sunbury Middle School, were closed less than two years ago to help alleviate a budget deficit and counter slashed education funding from the state. Kelley says nothing is official and the topic is just starting to be discussed. However, a second presentation on the idea will take place at Tuesday’s school board meeting.
