Firefighters contain a shed fire in Lower Northumberland County

HERNDON — Firefighters from across Lower Northumberland County were called out for a shed fire early this morning. The fire was at 2:43 a.m. in the area of 144 Wolfe Road in Washington Township. Crews were on the scene for about an hour putting out the fire. It’s not known yet who owns the shed and how the fire started. (Ali Stevens) Follow

Fire at a home in Montour County this morning

  DANVILLE — A family is homeless after a fire in Anthony Township, Montour County early this morning. Emergency dispatchers say the fire started at 3:30 this morning at 1390 White Hall Road. The blaze started in a wood burner and spread into the walls. The Red Cross was notified and is assisting the family. One flown to Geisinger after a crash in Northumberland County

DORNSIFE — One person was flown to Geisinger Medical Center following a crash Saturday afternoon along Sunshine Road near Route 225 in Little Mahanoy Township, Northumberland County. Witnesses say the driver of an SUV lost control of the vehicle on a snow-covered road around 1:30 p.m. and slammed into an embankment on the side of the road.   A front-seat passenger was flown to Geisinger with serious injuries. Another occupant had to be extricated from the vehicle. A back-seat passenger was transported by ambulance to a local hospital. They have not been identified. The investigation continues. One of three homicide suspects wants his own trial

MIDDLEBURG — One of three men charged with the beating death of Donald Seebold III in 1997 wants to be tried seperately from his co-defendants. The Daily Item reports the attorney for 37-year-old Christopher Aucker of Beavertown has filed a motion that Aucker be tried seperately from 36-year-old Robert Reich of Beavertown and 36-year-old Ryan Sprenkel of Middleburg.   All three men are charged with homicide, conspiracy and perjury. They are scheduled for trial together in late April. State police say Aucker, Reich and Sprenkel assaulted Seebold during a birthday party in July of 1997 at the home of Linda Thomas.   Also charged with perjury are Thomas and Aucker’s wife Sheila Liddington Aucker. Fire destroys a home near Riverside on Saturday

RIVERSIDE — Six people are homeless after fire destroyed a home on Crest Haven Road Saturday evening in Rush Township, Northumberland County. The fire started around 6 p.m. at the home of Marvin and Janelle Eshbach and their four children.   The family was not at home when the fire started and rushed home when they heard about the blaze. Firefighters from Danville, Mahoning Township, Overlook and Southside were on the scene for several hours battling the large fire. There were no injuries reported.
