Road reopened after accident caused closure in Columbia County

BLOOMSBURG — A road closure was in place this morning in Columbia County after a vehicle crashed into a utility pole. Columbia County 911 tells us that a portion of Old   Berwich Road, near the intersection of East  Street, was closed for several hours following the crash. It happened around 1:30 a.m. and remained closed until for several hours while cleanup was underway. The investigation into that crash continues. (Sara Lauver)

Sunbury woman in serious condition after Friday crash

SUNBURY — A Sunbury is listed in serious condition after a Friday crash inNorthumberlandCounty.  According to police, the crash occured around noon when 84-year-old Darlis Garmin of Sunbury was attempting to make a left turn onto Route 890 from Kehres  Road. Police say Garmin failed to yield to oncoming traffic after stopping at a stop sign. and then pulled into the path of 39-year-old Jonathan Malick of Sunbury. Garmin was transported to GeisingerMedicalCenter for injuries where she is listed in serious condition today.  Malick suffered minor injuries but was not treated.
