SUNBURY – As the Selinsgrove zoning hearing board recently denied a variance to allow a man to build his daughter a tree house, a local Libertarian feels this is an example of government getting in the way.   Drew Bingaman is a Libertarian Party leader from Sunbury.  He said, “If those rules are what they are, and we can’t make a variance because the rules say we can’t make a variance, then I think the council needs to take some action.  They need to say ‘look, its playground equipment.’  It’s not something that’s out of place in a rural neighborhood.”   Bingaman explained what exactly a Libertarian is.  “We have a wide range of people…

Detour in Sunbury not a deterrent to car dealership

SUNBURY – It was about three months ago PennDOT began work on the Route 522 bridge in Selinsgrove, and project Bob Zimmerman, president of Zimmerman Chrysler Dodge Jeep, was concerned may hurt his business. Detours across The Valley next week

SUNBURY — Travelers can expect delays across The Valley, as PennDOT has several projects scheduled for next week. In Northumberland County, preservation work will continue on the Route 44 Bridge just south of Watsontown.  A 30-day detour starts Monday for the next phase of construction.  The detour will follow Route 405, the Susquehanna Trail and Main   Street in McEwensville. A bridge replacement project along Shakespeare Road in Northumberland County is set begin next week as well. The work will start at the intersection with Route 45 and end near the intersection with Hobbes Road in East Chillisquaque Township.  Initially, traffic will be restricted to a single lane in the work zone by the use of…
