Sunbury Police still searching for teens


SUNBURY — Sunbury police are still looking for two teens missing since early Thursday morning.  The two boys, 16-year-old Joseph Theiss and 15-year-old Christopher Reicher left their homes early Thursday morning, and have not been seen since.   Police believe the two may be together.  Theiss is described as 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing 120 pounds with blonde hair and blue eyes.  Reicher is 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing 120 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes.   If you think you have seen the teens, you are asked to call Sunbury Police as 988-4539.  (Codi Jade)   Follow

Big turnout for Sunbury’s Ta Ta Trot

SUNBURY—The Sunbury Celebration was in full swing when the fourth annual Ta Ta Trout 5k run/walk began Saturday. The 5k, which started on North 4th  Street in Sunbury, had 1,793 registered runners and walkers.   Julie Rockey, race founder spoke about the successful turn out. “ It’s the cause, and it’s the marketing,” she said.  “We really blasted it with Facebook, media coverage, sandwich boards throughout a 50-mile radius, and the cause. Breast cancer is obviously important. Almost everybody knows somebody that was a survivor. It’s just awesome community support, we have 38 teams registered, and it’s just amazing.”   With such a large turnout the race was very competitive. Mifflinburg man serious following crash

MILTON — A Mifflinburg man was injured in a Friday night crash.  According to police, 41-year-old Chad Smith lost control on a wet Interstate 80.   Smith was traveling west on I-80 in TurbotTownship near the 214 milepost when he decided to pass a vehicle just before 9:00p.m. Friday night.  As he returned to the right lane, he lost traction on the wet roadway.   Smith’s vehicle crossed into the left lane  and began to spin.  The vehicle then crossed both lanes of travel, impacted an embankment, and began to flip end over end for 300 feet.  Smith was ejected from the vehicle and was found lying in a ditch.   Smith was transported to GeisingerMedicalCenter…

Motorcyclist injured on Route 11


WATSONTOWN — A motorcyclist was injured on Route 11 Friday morning.  According to police, 62-year-old Leon Johnson of Muncy was injured when a vehicle pulled into his path of travel.   Johnson was traveling northbound on Route 11 in CooperTownship, MontourCounty around 10:30a.m., when a truck came from the turning center lane and entered into his path.  The truck, whose operator has not been released, swerved to avoid hitting Johnson.  Johnson was thrown from his motorcycle, and his bike continued to travel into a car at the intersection with County Line Road.  Johnson was treated at Geisinger Medical Centere for moderate injuries.  (Codi Jade) Follow

Telephone scammers targeting the area


WATSONTOWN — Use caution when answering your phone — Watsontown Police say telephone scammers are targeting our area.   Officers say they’ve been receiving several reports of a scam that involves a caller with an accent saying you’ve won a large prize.  The caller then instructs the victim to buy prepaid cards, and says they will be at your house at a specific time.   If the victim refuses their request, the caller becomes more irate.  Victim’s have reported that after refusing to buy prepaid cards, the caller has threatened to come to the house or wait down the road for them.   In some instances, police say the callers have given specific information to…
