Mosquito spraying Monday in Snyder County

SELINSGROVE — The Department of Environmental Protection will be spraying for mosquitoes on Monday in Monroe Township, Snyder County. The praying will take place in the Shady Nook area and other parts of Monroe Township. The treatments are administered by truck mounted equipment. High levels of nuisance mosquitoes have been detected in this area. The spray is said to be safe for the environment and pets. The type of mosquitoes they are spraying for typically does not carry the West Nile Virus. (Ali Stevens)

Two people hospitalized after a motorcycle crash

ORWIGSBURG — Two people from Dornsife remain hospitalized at Lehigh Valley Hospital after a motorcycle accident Friday on Route 61 in the Orwigsburg area. State police say an Auburn man pulled in front of a motorcycle driven by 50-year-old Dale Williard and his wife Lisa.   Lisa Williard was severely injured in the crash and remains in critical condition. Dale Williard was also injured and is in serious condition. The driver of the car, 23-year-old Daniel Moffett will be cited for causing the accident by pulling in front of Williard. Troopers say speed was not a factor. (Ali Stevens)  

Homicide: a stabbing in Columbia County

BLOOMSBURG — State police are investigating a deadly stabbing in Bloomsburg on Saturday night. State police say they were called to a home in the 39-houndred block of Old Berwick Road in South Centre Township for a report of a stabbing around 10:45 p.m.   When troopers arrived, they found the victim 24-year-old Brandon Burns had been stabbed. He was taken to Bloomsburg Hospital, but was pronounced dead at the hospital. The man accused of stabbing Burns is 26-year-old Brett Woodside of South Centre Township.   Woodside is charged with an open count of homicide, aggravated assault and tampering with evidence. He was arraigned and sent to the Columbia County Prison last night. There is…
