State representative hosting a town hall meeting

SUNBURY – State Representative Lynda Schlegel Culver (R-108th, Sunbury) is hosting a town hall meeting on Monday in Northumberland. Another Penn State child sexual assault settlement

  HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) – An attorney says seven young men he represents have finalized deals with Penn State over claims of abuse by the school’s former assistant football coach, Jerry Sandusky.   Lawyer Matt Casey said Friday his clients include Sandusky’s adopted son, Matt Sandusky, and three victims who testified last summer against Jerry Sandusky at his criminal trial. Casey said a fifth client, known as “Victim 2″ in court records, also reached a settlement.   “Victim 2″ was the boy seen by graduate assistant Mike McQueary being attacked by Sandusky in a shower. Project will close a portion of Stamm Road

  TURBOTVILLE — Roadwork on a portion of Stamm Road in Turbot Township will close the road for five days next week. PennDOT says Stamm Road will be closed daily starting on Monday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. The road will be closed between Route 254 and Muddy Run Road.   Four pipes will be replaced and it should take until Friday for the work to be completed. A detour will use Stamm Road, Schoolhouse Road and Route 254. (Ali Stevens)

Police chase man from Sunbury to Northumberland

SUNBURY – One man was injured in high speed chase with police last night in Northumberland County. Police say around 9:30 p.m., they tried to stop a man on a motorcycle for a traffic violation, when he sped up and tried to get away from officers.   The rider reached 100 miles per hour as he fled from Sunbury to Northumberland, where he crashed his bike on Priestley Avenue. The biker hit a curb in front of Emmanuel Home and landed in the grass. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Sunbury police were assisted by police from Northumberland and Point Township.
