Susquehanna University Symphonic Band Concert
The Susquehanna University Symphonic Band will perform its first concert of the year at 3 p.m. Nov. 23 in Stretansky Concert Hall of the Cunningham Center for Music and Art. The concert is free and open to the public.
The band, led by guest conductor Dave Rohrer, will present a varied selection of wind band repertoire representing American and European composers including Mark Camphouse, Eric Whitacre, Andrew Boysen, Julius Fucik, Jan Van der Roost and Boris Kozhevnikov.
Rohrer is a 1976 graduate of Susquehanna University’s music education program. He holds a Master of Music Education from West Chester University. He taught in the Carlisle Area School District for 30 years before retiring in 2010. He now serves as an adjunct faculty member in Susquehanna’s Department of Music.
The University Symphonic Band includes as many as 70 musicians and covers a broad spectrum of concert band literature. The band typically presents three concerts during each academic year.
