ELYSBURG — The 31st annual Covered Bridge Festival is coming up this week in Elysburg.  Organizer Donna Sharrow says the four-day festival has come a long way.

“It started out with just a handful of crafters and food vendors,” says Sharrow, “This year we have expanded and added nearly 50 new crafters and five new food vendors.  We have close to 350 crafters and a little over 30 food vendors.”

Sharrow says there is a few new activities this year, including agro-tourism Thursday and Friday.  “We are going to be featuring domesticated animals, pumpkins, apples, potatoes, camels, beehives, and so much more.  There will be eleven vendors in that area.”

There will also be covered bridge bus tours Saturday and Sunday.  The festival runs Thursday through Sunday at Knoebels Amusement Resort and is open each day from10:00a.m.-6:00p.m.  More information at www.itourcolumbiamontour.com. (Matt Bowen)
