40th year for Daffodil Days for ACS

SELINSGROVE – This is the 40th year that the American Cancer Society is selling daffodils and stuffed bears as part of their annual “Daffodil Days” fundraiser. Kim Kalinyak is from the American Cancer Society office in Selinsgrove.

She said, “It’s basically a symbol of hope. It’s our spring fundraiser. And it’s kind of symbolizing the roll from winter into spring and symbolizing the hope for ending cancer. That is what we are fighting for.”

Kalinyak says there are different ways to purchase daffodils and this year’s bear, “The Ray of Hope” bear. She said, “The bunches start anywhere from $10 and then if you would like to buy a bear, it goes up to $25. They can call us locally at 884-1027 to place an order. Orders will be taken anytime between now and February 20th.”

The daffodils are then delivered during “Daffodil Days”, which is March 18th through the 24th. The money raised is split, with 60 percent supporting local cancer programs and 40 percent going to the national American Cancer Society for cancer research. To order your daffodils, call 884-1027.
