6th Annual Wheels for Heroes is Saturday
SELINSGROVE — For the sixth year in a row, the Selinsgrove American Legion Riders will host Wheels for Heroes event Saturday. The benefit motorcycle ride features a car raffle, where someone will win a 2001 Toyota Camry, donated by Aubrey Alexander Toyota.
Tom Wallish is road captain for the Legion Riders and says the Benefit Motorcycle Ride will start at 11 a.m. sharp, with riders leaving from the Toyota dealership on Routes 11 and 15 in Hummels Wharf.
Tom Varner is president of the Legion Riders in Selinsgrove. He said, “100 percent of everything we raise goes right back out, either to local veterans, their families or the community. We have given care packages for troops, we have Wreaths for Warriors, a Helping Hands ride and support Selinsgrove Emergency Services and the Children’s Miracle Network. Everything we raise goes right back out.”
Tom Wallish is road captain and explains who can join their Legion Riders organization. He said, “You do not have to be a veteran to belong to the American Legion Riders. It’s a nationwide organization and is an arm of the American Legion. You can be a member of our Ladies Auxiliary or a member of the Sons of the American Legion, if you have a relative who served, and can be a member of the Legion Riders.” (Ali Stevens)
