A Shamokin man faces several counts of arson
SHAMOKIN – Arson charges have been filed against a Shamokin man accused of setting fire to a vacant half-double home on August 12th. The News Item reports the 24-year-old man, who has yet to be identified, faces several counts of arson, aggravated assault and burglary for the incident at 224 W. Arch Street. Several papers were reportedly set on fire in the basement of the half double home at the intersection of Arch and Coal Streets in Shamokin. The fire was put out quickly with no major damage reported.
The man being charged will be identified after District Judge John Gembic, who is attending a mandatory continuing education seminar for judges this week, approves and signs the complaint. (Ali Stevens)
