In Sunbury, a double stabbing and some arrests


SUNBURY – Two people were stabbed, and two others jailed Friday night in Sunbury. The incident happened near 6th and Arch Streets according to Sunbury police chief Stephen Mazzeo. He said his officers investigated the incident at around 830pm.

The victims, a male, and a female, were stabbed…one was taken by Life Flight to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. The other was also taken to a hospital. Chief Mazzeo said the victims names and medical conditions are out yet. Both are said to be in stable condition this weekend.

Mazzeo said no drugs or gangs were involved but he did not elaborate on the motives. Sunbury police officers had assistance from Shamokin, Northumberland and Point Township police. Northumberland County 9-1-1 said the incident was reported in the first block of North Sixth Street, at or near 60 N. 6th St. (Mark Lawrence)
