Athletes ‘Team Up for CMN’

SELINSGROVE — Three area football teams had a little preseason challenge Friday. Instead of rushing for yards, though, they were rushing to get donations.

Football players from Shikellamy, Selinsgrove and Danville teamed up to raise money for the Children’s Miracle Network on the opening day for the 94KX Cares For Kids Radiothon. Together the boys raised $1,991.51 in just two hours.

While the teams did work together for the grand total, they were competing to see which team could get the most donations. They started at 4:00p.m., and by 6:00p.m Shikellamy came out victorious, raising $956. Selinsgrove came in second with $855, followed by Danville with $180.51.

Listeners were asked to call in or show up at the Susquehanna Valley Mall to support their favorite school, while also supporting the Children’s Miracle Network. The 94KX Cares For Kids Radiothon continues Saturday with the 10th annual Ashley’s Auction. A Lego Building Contest will also be held on Sunday. You can find more information and make a donation online at WQKX.com. (Codi Jade)
