Barletta named to new subcommittee
HARRISBURG — Congressman Lou Barletta (R-11th, Hazelton) has some new duties. He has been named to the Homeland Security Committee’s Subcommittee on Oversight and Management Efficiency.
Barletta said, “This is an excellent opportunity to be able to oversee Homeland Security’s day-to-day operations and make sure it operates in the most efficient and effective manner. The principal responsibility of government is to protect its citizens, and this role will help me see that we are fulfilling that promise in the best ways.”
The subcommittee works to identify potential opportunities to eliminate duplicative or unnecessary programs, find efficiencies, and identify areas of cost savings. The committee may also investigate homeland security programs and practices.
Barletta said, “I am pleased to now be in a better position to move forward, particularly when there is so much misguided talk about amnesty for illegal immigrants before our borders are secure.”
He formerly served on the subcommittee on Transportation Security. He continues to also serve on the Subcommittee on Border and Maritime Security. (Codi Jade)
