Bloom Fair Board approves a hike in prices

BLOOMSBURG – The cost of admission to the Bloomsburg Fair will go up this year.  Fair board officials unanimously approved a ticket hike from $5 to $8 for general admission at Tuesday’s board meeting.  The Press Enterprise reports floodwaters from Tropical Storm Lee led to a $3.31-million loss for 2011 and the cancellation of the fair.

The fair committee had to spend $1.2 million of their savings on cleanup costs following the flood.  Officials say the rise in ticket prices will help stabilize their finances. Additionally, the fair preview Friday night will go from free to $3 per person. (Ali Stevens)
