Book sale at Pineknotter Days
NORTHUMBERLAND— The Friends of Priestley-Forsyth Memorial Library is holding their annual book sale during Pineknotter Days. The club collects books on the first Saturday of every month at the Christ United Methodist Church on Front and King Streets to help support the library.
President Diane Wynn says this is their major fundraiser of the year, “We sort the books into categories and then during pineknotter days every year we have our huge book sale. It’s our major fundraiser of the year and we use the money to support the library.
The ‘friends club’ volunteers to help with many of the library’s projects. Wynn says the proceeds are going towards their current project, the Reading Garden, “We’re redoing the whole side yard. It’s going to be a beautiful reading garden. It’s going to be a beautiful sanctuary for reading and the people of Northumberland to use.”
The book sale started Wednesday and will continue Thursday evening from 4 to 8pm and Friday 8am to 8pm. Friday afternoon will be their serious discount sale for a dollar a bag of books. (Lauren Koch)
