Buffalo Valley Singers celebrate 40 years
LEWISBURG — The Buffalo Valley Singers celebrated their 40th anniversary by presenting a pops concert in Marlow Hall on the campus of RiverWoods. The Buffalo Valley Singers group was founded in 1973 in Mifflinburg.
Ruth Blankenship, founding member, spoke about the origins of the musical group saying, “We started in Mifflinburg High School actually, rehearsing there and since I was from Lewisburg we started branching out so now we have singers from I’d say at least a 30 mile radius.”
Connie Pawling-Young was the director of the ensemble with Tim Latshaw on piano and Fred Lawrence on percussion.
The concert consisted of Broadway, spiritual, and patriotic music and was sponsored by the Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts. ( Sarah Lagerman)
