Business heavily damaged by fire in Port Trevorton

PORT TREVORTON — A large fire heavily damaged part of the Keller’s Marine business in Port Trevorton Friday morning. The three-alarm fire started around 8:30 a.m. in the roof of one building and then quickly spread.

More than 20 volunteer fire companies from three counties responded and were on the scene into the afternoon. There were no injuries reported. The business is owned by G. Michael and Michelle Keller and sells and services boats. The business has been in Port Trevorton for 55 years and there are 75 workers at the site on Main Street.

Firefighters were evacuated from the burning building for safety reasons. It took about 5 hours to extinguish the blaze and Routes 11 and 15 had to be shut down for a time to bring tanker trucks to the scene of the fire. (Ali Stevens)
