Casey takes on faulty products

UNDATED — U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) is one of two senators introducing legislation today. It is aimed at making it a crime for a corporate officer to knowingly hide a product’s serious problems if a product the company makes poses a danger of death or serious physical injury.

It’s called the Hide No Harm Act says Casey, “It would be punishable by fines of up to five years in prison and that is the kind of deterrent you want to create so that when a corporate officer comes across information that could lead to the threat of death or injury, that they seriously weigh whether or not they should pick up the telephone or take some other action.”

U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut is also introducing the legislation, which is expected later this morning.
