Cause can’t be determined for restaurant fire

MILLMONT – Following an investigation by a state police fire marshal, a cause could not be determined for a fire Wednesday night that destroyed the Barnyard Restaurant on Old Turnpike Road in Lewis Township, Union County. The cause of the fire has been ruled undetermined.

Witnesses indicated that a fire began within a ceiling area near an exhaust fan in the kitchen. The fire then spread into the roof. Firefighters say they struggled to put out the fire because it was in between an old shingled roof and an outside metal roof, which they weren’t able to access. The exact cause of the fire was not found. Damages are estimated at $1-million. (Ali Stevens)
