Celebrating 10 years of the Lewisburg Ice Festival

LEWISBURG – Hundreds will flock to Lewisburg this weekend for the 10th annual Lewisburg Ice Festival. Linda Sterling of the Lewisburg Downtown Partnership explained the conditions that those daring enough to partake in the Polar Bear Plunge will be facing. “I shouldn’t mention this, but the Susquehanna River is at 32 degrees. So people who are adventuresome in jumping in there will be particularly adventuresome this year.”

Sterling also described Friday’s big draw for families, the annual carving of the ice sculptures. “This year’s theme is history as it is the celebration of our county’s birthday, the bicentennial for Union County.” Linda Sterling reassures families that despite the history theme, the kid favorite sculptures will be returning. “They will throw in a bunch of animals, because if you have ever seen the kids up and down the street, the animals are the ones they are touching.”

The Lewisburg Ice Festival will feature many events Friday and Saturday ranging from the Chocolate Lovers Festival to the Frosty 5k. The Campus Theater will also have a free showing of Groundhog Day on Saturday Groundhog Day at 4PM! For a full list of events, go to www.lewisburgpa.com or visit our calendar at www.wkok.com.
