City police investigate incident at commissioner’s meeting
SUNBURY — Sunbury police will investigate an argument Tuesday at the Northumberland County commissioner’s meeting between Shamokin resident Dave Kaleta and Northumberland County Commissioner Vinny Clausi, which prompted the police being called. Chief Clerk Gary Steffen says he spoke to the police department about what transpired at the meeting and they will be turning over records of the meeting to the department today.
He says Clausi wants to pursue the matter, but as of yet, the investigation continues and no charges have been filed. Clausi said Kaleta was out of order when he accused him of illegal activities during the public comment portion of the meeting. Clausi asked Kaleta to sit down after his two-minute speech, but Kaleta refused and a guard contacted police.
Meanwhile, Commissioner Rick Shoch tells us according to a tape of the meeting, Kaleta only spoke for one minute and four seconds, before he was told his two-minutes were up. Shoch tells WKOK Clausi didn’t even comply with his own two-minute rule. (Ali Stevens)
