Collapsed home in Shamokin will be demolished


SHAMOKIN – The double home that collapsed in Shamokin on Monday will be demolished starting on Friday morning. The News Item reports a contract was awarded to Madonna Enterprises to raze the home at 613 and 615 West Spruce Street. The demolition work will cost the city $21,000. It is expected to take about 10 days to demolish the structure. The work will be paid for with Community Development Block Grant funding, which has been approved by the state. (Ali Stevens)
