Commissioner urging residents to vote
SUNBURY – Northumberland County Commissioner Stephen Bridy is urging residents of the county to register to vote.
At Tuesday’s commissioner meeting, he talked about a common misconception of registering, “Many people say I don’t want to register to vote for fear that I’m going to be called for jury duty.”
However, Bridy says just because someone is not registered to vote does not mean they get out of jury duty, “They actually pull off of six lists, including your driver’s license, welfare, and real estate as well as the registered to vote list.”
Bridy says he hopes more county residents register to vote for the upcoming election. Currently, out of the nearly 95,000 residents in Northumberland County, 53,823 are registered to vote. (Sara Bartlett)
