VIDEO HERE: Commissioners vote to slash salaries
SUNBURY — Northumberland County Commissioners voted to significantly cut row officers’ salaries Tuesday night. This was the second time the vote took place and the outcome was the same. The first vote, in September, was deemed illegal after being improperly advertised.
As promised, Commissioner Vinny Clausi voted identically as he did the first time, slashing salaries by nearly 50% for each row officer except county controller Anthony Phillips. Commissioner Stephen Bridy voted in lockstep with Clausi, approving the salary cuts. Commissioner Rick Shoch voted against all of them.
Prior to the vote several residents of Northumberland County and employees themselves addressed the board of commissioners asking them to reconsider their decision. (Sara Bartlett)
