Congressman stands by marriage views

SUNBURY – U.S. Congressman Lou Barletta (R-PA, 11) says he stands firm to his beliefs against gay marriage.  As the U.S. Supreme Court continues to deliberate the issue, Barletta gave his opinion.  “If couples want to have legal arraignments among themselves; that I don’t oppose.  But, I believe that marriage is between a man and a woman.”

Barletta says it is understandable that the issue is in the hands of the Supreme Court.  “I guess if we wanted to redefine what marriage is, then it makes sense.”  Barletta was in Sunbury this week to open his new district office.  Meanwhile, the Supreme Court is in its third day of debating about the gay marriage issue.
