Constable wants ordinance against National Defense Authorization Act
SUNBURY – A constable is asking the Sunbury City Council to pass an ordinance against the National Defense Authorization Act and the Patriot Act. Constable Ed Quiggle spoke to Sunbury City Council on Monday night and a group called People Against the National Defense Authorization Act were also on hand.
The council says they will research the information provided and discuss further at a later meeting. Quiggle says states such as Virginia and Utah have passed legislation expressing opposition to the NDAA’s indefinite detention provisions and many other states are considering similar legislation. He says anti-NDAA legislation is expected to be introduced in Pennsylvania’s General Assembly during the current legislative session. (Ali Stevens)
