Convicted murderer to represent himself in his appeal


LEWISBURG – A man convicted of second-degree murder in Union County Court in October will be allowed to represent himself in his appeal process. The Standard Journal reports Roderick Sims requested and was granted permission to dismiss his attorney Michael Dennehy and represent himself. Union County President Judge Michael Sholley presided over the trial and granted Sims permission to dismiss his attorney. Sims was convicted on October 31st of killing Charity Spickler in a Lewisburg apartment in 2008. Attorney Michael Dennehy put Commonwealth Superior Court on notice that Sims would appeal his conviction. (Ali Stevens)
