Corbett to take another trip with local businessman
WATSONTOWN — Governor Tom Corbett is planning to take another trip with his friend John Moran Jr. The two made headlines in 2011 when Moran invited Corbett and his wife to join him on his yacht in Rhode Island, all expense paid — out of Moran’s pocket.
The yacht trip reportedly cost Moran nearly $1,500. Corbett has been criticized for accepting such gifts, which include several other free trips from Moran, as well as monetary donations from lobbyists and others.
Now Corbett has asked Moran to join him on his upcoming trade mission to Brazil and Chile. Government watchdogs will be keeping a close eye on the men, to see who foots the bill.
Moran is the president and chief executive officer of Moran Industries of Watsontown. He is also the co-chair of the Team Pennsylvania Foundation. (Codi Jade)
