Union County imposed county-wide burn ban

LEWISBURG — A county-wide burn ban has been imposed in Union County due to the high risk of wildfires. The burn ban is effective at 6 p.m. this evening. The Commissioners say very high winds and dry fuel content is causing multiple wildfires in the county.

Michelle Sanders, Emergency Management Coordinator, issued the ban, which prohibits burning of any combustible material such as garbage, leaves, grass, twigs, litter, paper or other debris, in a burn barrel, fire ring or on the ground. The ban will remain in effect for 30 days, unless conditions improve significantly. (Ali Stevens)
