Danville mayor hopes BJ’s will rebuild
DANVILLE – Danville’s mayor says she hopes a popular restaurant will rebuild downtown following a fire that heavily damaged the building.
Bernie Swank says BJ’s Steak and Rib House was a popular and thriving downtown spot, “It will be missed by a lot of people because it had good food, a good atmosphere and was in the middle of Danville. Hopefully they rebuild and I would like to see them stay on the same street, Mill Street.”
Swank says she has talked with the restaurant owner Bob Kirkpatrick, “He said that it is going to take time for him to figure out what he is going to do and how he is going to do it. It is devastating to anyone that loses a business like this.”
A state police fire marshal said that the building sustained too much damage to determine what started the Sunday blaze. The fire reportedly started in the second floor of the building. There were no injuries reported. (Sara Bartlett)
