Coroner: Sunbury body is a man

SUNBURY — A body found in Sunbury Tuesday has been confirmed to be a man.  According to Northumberland County Coroner James Kelley, the body found in the 200 block of Catawissa Avenue is believed to be a man in his 40’s.  The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sunbury police continue to investigate.  Chief Stephen Mazzeo said,  “Our officers responded to the report of a deceased person.  It is under investigation.  We’ve requested the state police assistance and we’ve requested their forensics unit to process the scene…  At this point we are treating it as a suspicious situation.”

Kelley said an autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday at 8:00a.m. at Lehigh Valley Hospital.  Sunbury Police, state police and forensics units continue to investigate.  Police say the public is not in any danger. (Codi Jade/Sara Bartlett)
