Email linked to DCNR chief’s resignation
HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) – Gov. Tom Corbett’s office is making public an email exchange that it says led to the forced resignation Thursday of a member of the governor’s Cabinet.
The May 3 exchange between former Secretary Richard Allan of the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and his wife Patricia, who at the time the Department of Environmental Protection, was released Friday.
It apparently involved problems Patricia Allan was having with a female co-worker at DEP in making plans for the department’s annual falcon-banding event.
In one email, Patricia Allan wrote that the co-worker, who is black, was showing her “true colors.” Richard Allan responded with one word – “COLORS” – in all capital letters and followed by exclamation points.
The employee learned about the e-mail and filed a complaint.
