The Sunbury Salvation Army distributes food, toys and clothes:
SUNBURY – You have heard their stories on WKOK. Now Valley families are receiving items from the Needy Family Fund in Sunbury and Milton. The distribution was Wednesday and Thursday, where families could pick up food, toys and clothes.
In Sunbury, for the past four years, the Amateur Softball Association has donated their building for the distribution says ASA director Kathaleen Persing. “We actually started planning three weeks ago. We start with the food delivery, we move boxes around, we separate the items and we deliver to certain places. This is all volunteers who are giving up their time to do this.”
In Sunbury, the Needy Family Fund assisted nearly 700 families. The Needy Family Fund is a joint effort between the Sunbury and Milton Salvation Army, Susquehanna Bank, The Daily Item and the radio stations of Sunbury Broadcasting Corporation. You can donate to any branch of Susquehanna Bank. (Sara Bartlett)
