Watch the video here: Farm Show asks visitors to buy local

HARRISBURG – Looking for something fun and educational for the entire family? You may want to check out the Pennsylvania Farm Show. The theme of the 2013 Farm Show is: “made in PA, it makes a difference.”

PA Preferred, a branch of the Department of Agriculture, has tables set up throughout the complex. They are asking visitors to sign the “Pa Preferred Pledge.” Bryan Keister, PA Preferred Coordinator, talked about the significance of the pledge.

He said,“When you sign the pledge you are actually promising to make a conscious effort to buy local products. By purchasing Pennsylvania products you are supporting our communities and helping strengthen our economy.”

Along with signing the pledge, there are so many things you can do and see at the Farm Show this year. The 97th annual Farm Show has nearly 6,000 animals, 10,000 competitive exhibits, and 300 commercial exhibits. The show continues through Saturday. (Codi Jade)
