Fire heavily damages a home in Coal Township


COAL TOWNSHIP – Fire heavily damaged a home in Coal Township this morning. The fire started at 9:20 a.m. at 1019 W. Arch Street. The News Item says the residents, Walter and Helen Neiswender were able to get out safely along with an elderly neighbor in an attached home. The Neiswender’s dog was killed in the fire. Officials believe the fire started in the kitchen on the first floor and spread to an addition in the rear of the home. The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation. (Ali Stevens)
