First rehabbed house complete in Sunbury

SUNBURY – A home on Vine Street in Sunbury is one property that is the showcase of the city’s rehabilitation projects.

Mayor Dave Persing says the home at 314 Vine Street is one that has benefitted, “As far as something positive that has happened in Sunbury, this is an entire house that was remodeled and rehabbed.  I am always talking about fixing up properties on at a time, and it is one at a time, but you can see a huge different in the property inside and out.”

Persing says they got $500,000 last year in state and federal grants, “Through SEDA-COG it is an ongoing program.  We used to do it for rental rehabs years ago, and it has been about 10 years that we have been doing this now, and this is the second time we have reapplied for money.  It truly makes an impact on the neighborhoods.”

Persing says this home on Vine Street is the first fully rehabbed home this year in Sunbury. (Sara Bartlett)
