Football players team up for the children

SUNBURY — Several area football teams had a little preseason challenge Friday.  Instead of a football, though, they picked up telephones.

Football players from Danville, Lewisburg, Selinsgrove and Shikellamy teamed up to raise money for the Children’s Miracle Network on the opening day for the 94KX Cares For Kids Radiothon.  Together the boys raised $3,591 in just two hours.

While they teams did work together for the grand total, they were competing to see which team could get the most donations.  They started at 4:00p.m., and by 6:00p.m Shikellamy came out victorious, raising $2,096.  Selinsgrove came in second with $852, followed by Lewisburg with $348, and Danville with $295.

Listeners were asked to call in, or show up at the Susquehanna Valley Mall to support their favorite school, while also supporting the Children’s Miracle Network.  The 94KX Cares For Kids Radiothon continues Saturday with Ashley’s Auction.  A Lego Building Contest will also be held on Sunday.  You can find more information and make a donation online at http://www.wqkx.net/newsupdates/94kxnews/94kx-cares-for-kids-radiothon/.  (Codi Jade)
