Cong. Carney: I’m not running right now

SUNBURY – Former US Congressman Chris Carney is not running again this year, but he says it is a possibility in the future. Chris Carney served the 10th Congressional District as a democrat from 2007 to 2011, when he was unseated by Republican Tom Marino (R-10th, Cogan Station).

Carney said, “I’m not running for Congress right now, no.  For most of my adult life, I’ve been serving this country in one fashion or another, so, I’m not ruling anything out.”

In 2011, he landed a top job in Washington as a defense contractor’s director of homeland security and policy strategy.  He is now on the Military Compensation and Retirement Modernization Commission in Washington, but hasn’t ruled out a future run. He expressed that sentiment on WKOK’s On The Mark program Thursday when asked by host Mark Lawrence if he would run again.

Carney said, “Let me get through the commission.  We are going to get our work done and next year, I’ll take a very hard look at it.” You can hear Carney on WKOK’s Thursday On The Mark program online at  (Ali Stevens)
