Former principal in Sunbury has died
SUNBURY – A World War II veteran and former school principal in Sunbury has died. Lewis Rovenolt of Sunbury died Thursday at Nottingham Village in Northumberland at the age of 99. Rovenolt graduated from Turbotville High School in 1933 and earned an education degree from Bloomsburg State Teachers College in 1940 and a master’s degree from Bucknell University in 1947.
Rovenolt served with the Navy during World War II before becoming a teacher in the Shikellamy School District. He served as principal in the Sunbury School District from the late 1940’s and retired from the Shikellamy School District in 1977.
A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday at the Jerre Wirt Blank Funeral Home in Sunbury with funeral services at 11 a.m. (Ali Stevens)
