Freeburg man charged with attempted homicide
FREEBURG — A Freeburg man charged with beating a man with a baseball bat and raping a woman, has now been charged with attempted homicide. 54-year-old Gregory Allen Keister was originally charged with aggravated assault, rape and burglary. District Attorney Mike Piecuch now says the charges were ammended to include attempted homicide.
Police say Keister entered a home in Freeburg on April 28th and attacked a 32-year-old Sunbury man with a baseball bat, who was sleeping in bed with a woman. Keister is also accused of raping the woman, after the man was allowed to leave to get medical help for head wounds.
The new charge was filed by state police this week and Keister is now locked up in the Snyder County Prison on $100,000 bail. He has a preliminary hearing on May 31st before District Judge Lori Hackenberg. (Ali Stevens)
