Fundraising is key for hospital success
SUNBURY – The annual 94KX Cares for Kids Radiothon is right around the corner, which raises money for the Children’s Miracle Network at Janet Weis Children’s Hospital at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. 100 % of the money raised goes directly to the hospital to pay for equipment, programs and services.
Dr. Glenn Steele is president and CEO of Geisinger Health System and tells us why giving is so important. He said, “There are things we can’t do without the philanthropic contribution. We succeed because our family goes way outside the 20,000 people that work for us. Part of the literal as well as figurative buy-in to Geisinger is to have people really participate.”
Steele adds that all donations are important. He said, “It doesn’t matter how much. That depends upon how much you have. But, any small participation makes the individual a part of that extended family, which is very, very important.”
The 94KX Cares for Kids Radiothon will take place August 2nd, 3rd and 4th at the Susquehanna Valley Mall. Ashley’s Auction is Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., featuring hundreds of items to bid on. You can see a full list of items online at www.ashleysauctionwebsite.com. Donations will be accepted throughout the Radiothon by calling 1-800-799-KIDS or online at www.wqkx.com. (Ali Stevens)
