Historic home destroyed by fire in Columbia County

NUMIDIA – A farmhouse was destroyed by fire in Columbia County yesterday afternoon. The Press Enterprise reports fire crews responded just after two yesterday afternoon to the home at 64 Roosevelt Road in Cleveland Township near Numidia. A neighbor called 911 after seeing heavy smoke coming from the rear of the home. The home, which was built in the 1870’s, is owned by Gary Welkom and is said to be a total loss. No injuries were reported and the investigation continues into what caused that fire. (Ali Stevens)
