Holiday Express train rides in Sunbury this Saturday

SUNBURY – The Holiday Express train rides have become a tradition each year to support Fort Discovery Playground in Sunbury.  Fran Zartman is co-coordinator for the event and said, “People board the train behind Zimmerman Motors onMarket Streetin Sunbury.  It’s just a fabulous time.  The train is decorated in icicle lights and there is festive music.  A story is read on the train.”

There is also a visit from Santa Claus, who meets with the children.  Zartman says it’s their annual fundraiser to supportFortDiscovery. She said, “Our maintenance includes mulching, sealing, removing wood and some repair work.”

Train rides are Saturday at 3, 5, and 7 p.m. and Sunday at 1, 3, and 5 p.m.  Tickets are $10 each and children 2 and under are free.  Tickets are available at Susquehanna Bank, the Greater Susquehanna Valley YMCA, and Zimmerman Motors in Sunbury. Tickets are also available at the beginning of the train ride, but the trains fill up fast. (Ali Stevens)
