International drug bust nets 16
SHAMOKIN — More than a dozen drug arrests in The Valley Thursday morning–including a person police say is a major trafficker from Central America.
According to staff at the office of Magisterial District Judge John Gembic, 16 people from Luzerne and Northumberland Counties, along with one person from the Dominican Republic, were arrested for drug trafficking.
They are charged in connection with an international drug trafficking organization that deals in heroin and cocaine. The drug bust was part of an investigation by the Attorney General’s Bureau of Narcotics along with police from Coal Township, Ralpho Township and Shamokin.
